Face of The Day: On & On Bronze....

I am a Bronzer & Contour noob.

Always wanting to try bronzer, but always finding ones that were way too orange for my pale skin tone, even when tanned! However, whilst browsing Superdrug on lunch break one Tuesday, I found Makeup Academy's Luxe Contour Kit in Medium/Dark & boy, has it been a game changer! So because I love it just a smidgen too much, I thought I would share with you this makeup look.

For base I used Bourjois' Healthy Mix Serum Foundation in Vanille Clair which is a lovely lightweight formula that gives you a small amount of coverage but still allows your natural skin to show through. I love the dewy look to my skin this serum gives, similar to the healthy mix foundation & how it looks like my skin on a really, super, amazing day! Next for concealing dark circles under the eyes, the cult classic Maybelline's Age Rewind Eraser Eye Conceal in Light which is literally a good nights sleep in a small, sponge tipped bottle! For any redness or blemishes/scarring that the foundation didn't cover, Makeup Academy's Conceal & Brighten Kit in Porcelain is my go-to product, as it blends beautifully, isn't cakey looking on the skin & is a perfect match for my skin tone. Rimmel's Stay Matte Powder in Transparent is then applied to my T-Zone & undereyes to get rid of any oilyness & to make my base last throughout the day.

Next up- the whole reason for this post, MUA's Luxe Contour Kit which I apply in the hollows of my cheeks (by doing that whole sucking in the cheeks, fish face thing), on the temples of my forehead & down my neck. The reason why I love it? It is the most gorgeous honey bronzer colour- almost similar to The Bodyshop's Honey Bronzing Powder in appearance & colour, its easily buildable to achieve the desired intensity of contour & it looks great on pale or slightly tanned skin- it is a pale girls best friend!

Now as a lover of radiant, healthy looking skin, of course I had to use my favourite highlighter of the moment by The Bodyshop. Which I applied to the tops of my cheekbones, a little bit towards my temples & underneath the brow bone to really make my skin pop!

For eyes I went minimal & used Benefit's Roller Lash which, don't me wrong I do really like, as it really lengthens my lashes & doesn't make them stick together (a lot of mascara's do!)- but Maybelline's Lash Sensational Mascara is pretty much identical in wand, application & appearance just for a fraction of the price!

Lastly Lips & Newlook's Pure Colour Lip Liner in Apricote is what I chose to round this look off- identical in colour to MAC's Velvet Teddy & fool proof to apply, it is the perfect nudey brown shade to compliment a bronze, glowy complexion. If you find a lip pencil a little too drying on the lips, just add a little lip gloss or balm over the top to keep those babies hydrated!

Healthy, glowing, bronze skin with a dash of mascara & earthy nude lip- now if anyone needs me, I'll be pinning amazing-looking holiday destinations on my Pintrest board!

Being Elle: The Sunday Catch Up Week 022.....

Getting in a sneaky Sunday Catch-Up on here on a Monday, but yesterday understandably was my birthday,(24+1!) & I didn't want to sit inside typing this up when I could be enjoying the last of the summer sun, eating cake & catching up with my family- Sunday's really are the perfect day to have a birthday!

1. Monday, Me & Adam had a little cry as he returned to work after his two week holiday- is it bad that we feel that way?!

2. After discovering Legally Blonde: The Musical a few months back, I have become completely obsessed with the song So Much Better- I know all the words, listen to it at lest twice a day & have listened to many different versions of it on Youtube!

3. Work on our house is still taking shape- this week saw our decking being replaced (as it was rotten in places & the boards were coming up, here there & everywhere!) & boy does it make the garden look wider! We also have been looking into replacing our banister & spindles in our hallway & landing, as they are really low down & wobbly, so fingers crossed we can get that sorted asap so we can finally carpet the whole of upstairs & staircase.

4. Tesco's Chocolate Covered Rice Cakes is my new go to snack- curbs my chocolate craving, is a lovely addition (if broken up) with some Strawberries & contains only eighty four calories.

5. Wednesday we went to Ikea & I'm pretty certain this was the only trip where we came out with hardly anything! I should probably mention that the only reason why we took this trip was to look at a sofa (which we are still not sure about), but only coming out with some wooden spoons, bins & Cacti I think deserves a round of applause!

6. I am now fully caught up with Pretty Little Liars & cannot contain my excitement for this weeks episode!!!! All the questions for the last six series will be answered, we find out who Charles is & finally we find out why everything that has happened to them has! I will not be looking forward to the long wait once this half of the series ends though- might have to rewatch it from the start again!

7. Since coming back from holiday & getting a little smidgen of a tan, I have really been enjoying the MUA Luxe Contour Kit in Medium/Dark which, for a bronzer & contour noob like me, is so beautiful & easy to use. A honey brown colour that looks really nice on my pale skin & in such pretty packaging- I think I can understand now what all the fuss is about!

8. Yesterday as mentioned, was my birthday & of course I had a blooming marvellous day (thank you sunshine gods!!) with my family. The day started off at Bills with Adam, where we went for our usual brunch (Veggie Breakfast with Scrambled Eggs & Crispy Potato is where its at!) that turned into a major cringe fest when the waitress walked out with a brownie complete with a candle on top. But I quickly got over that & we headed to my parents where I spent the rest of day- we went on a walk across the fields to one of my favourite pubs, chilled in the beer garden with a g&t in the sunshine, headed back & fired  up the barbecue where my parents, brother & sister put on a delicious spread & then after stuffing ourselves to the brim, out came the cake which we then ate as the sun went down. Overall I had a lovely day with the people I love ♥

How To Achieve The Perfect Summer Flush....

Like most women, I am a huge fan of a natural looking flush without having to run eight miles in the rain to achieve it (however if thats how you like to get a natural flush, no judgement).

Summer is all about flawless, glowing skin with a hint of a healthy flush to the cheeks- whether that is rose pink, peachy coral or golden bronze, anything goes. So today I wanted to share with you my  seven favourite blushers that are perfect to achieve that summer flush no matter where you are sending your summer.

The Palette Perfect For Travelling: Makeup Revolution is a new kid on the block- a budget proof brand with the quality & formulation of many of your fav higher end names, (think Urban Decay, MAC & Makeup Forever) this baked blush palette in Sugar & Spice is amazing! Highly pigmented in colour & easily buildable in application, you could perhaps mistaken these for a few of your favourite MAC shades- I love the different spectrum of shades within this palette, especially the fact that all colours look beautiful on my pale skin. & the cherry on top of the cake? Eight blushers for £6 is a little bit of a steal!!

The Subtle Rosy Cheek: As a lover of a natural looking flush, rather then looking like an 80's popstar, Bourjois' Little Round Pot Blusher in Rose Frisson & Max Factor's Creme Puff Blush in Lovely Pink are the best two for a really subtle rosy cheek. Both have a beautiful marbled appearance in the pot with a gold looking highlight running through it, so it adds a glowing quality to the cheeks once applied which looks lovely & healthy, not disco ball-ish at all!

The Sweat Proof Blush: Josie Maran's Argan Colour Stick in Neutral Pink is perfect for all you cream-based blush lovers out there, who like to apply, blend & go. Argan Oil infused which helps prevent dehydration & inflammation, as well as feeling really lightweight & not greasy on the skin- what I love the most about this blusher is how it gives you a beautiful flush to your cheeks using only a small amount of product, which even after wearing it all day through the heat & sweat is still there. If your looking to minimise the amount of makeup your taking away with you, this little guy can also double up as a lipstick (plus did I mention the tube is rose gold!?).

The Healthy Flush: My all time favourite blush has to be Tarte's Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blusher in Blissful- the perfect rose pink for my skin tone that looks beautiful whether I'm my normal pale self, or slightly more tanned. Natural looking, long lasting & easily build able (are you noticing a pattern yet?!), I cannot recommend Tarte's blushers enough- I'm feeling a Sephora spree on the cards!

The Natural Looking Glow: & what Summer Flush isn't complete without mentioning a Highlighter? By a mile, the one I reach for the most has to be my beloved Bodyshop Radiant Highlighter which is a gorgeous pearlescent pink liquid formula, that isn't too thin & isn't too thick in consistency making it really easy to blend into the skin. For me I feel it works better when applied on top of foundation- as I feel the glow gets lost underneith the foundation if applied first, & do not powder over the top of it as, again the glowy qualities get lost. As a lover of glowy, natural looking skin I cannot big this one up enough- it really is the key to a natural looking summer glow.

What Blushers are you enjoying the most at the moment? Are you on the Strobbing bandwagon?

Style: Zara's Autumn Lookbook '15.....

Images from

Zara has again set the internet a blaze with their heavily 70's inspired Autumn Campaign.

The 70's look has been huge this Summer & is set to become even bigger this Autumn, with designer & high street alike propelling this trend further forwards- which is why it was no surprise to me that Zara has heavily invested in this. Double Denim, Suede, Fringe, Mustards, Paisley Print, Bell Bottoms, Bows & Autumn Florals are featured throughout with Fur & Leather for layering later on in the season.

This season, Zara has hit the nail right on the head- don't blame me for spending all your pay check in one swoop!

Travel Scrapbook: Mevagissey, Cornwall

Mevagissey, Cornwall UK 2015 © VintageELLE09

Sorry for the photo overload, I really struggled cutting them down from 214!!

Here is a little scrapbook from my family holiday in Mevagissey in Cornwall, UK- the first at home in the UK in uummm, about ten years! The English seaside & coast is so beautiful that I had a field day with my camera everyday, indulged in way too many Cornish Pasties, Ice Creams & Fish & Chips & of course, had a lovely week with my family. If you are ever visiting the UK, I would highly suggest a trip to Cornwall (especially Mevagissey) as it showcases everything amazing the UK has to offer.

Have you had a staycation this year?
