Being Elle: The Sunday Catch Up Week 002......

image

1. Monday was a right off. Didn't want to get out of bed & spent most of the day in my pj's'

2. Tuesday I had an interview with a subscription company. I was really excited about possibly working for the company & really wanted it, however when I arrived it was pretty much not an interview, just got 'talked at' about the role & didn't get a great feeling about how it went (my gutt is always right when it comes to interviews). Found out on Thursday I didn't get it, as they thought I would be bored coming from the company/environment I had recently worked for. My mum said that's code for 'I'm over qualified'- I don't think so somehow but I was really upset I didn't get it, this fuels my thought process of I'm just being pigion holed to retail, I was crazy for leaving with no job in the pipeline & of course the favourite, I have made a mistake, I should go back!!

3. I have been lusting over far too many new clothes, bags & shoes recently. My 'wish list' is growing by the day & I dream of crisp new outfits with colours of white & pastel. I must hold off though until I have money coming in!

4. Had a lovely mummy daughter day. Went to our local garden centre, had a look around & indulged in a lemon cupcake & earl grey- how very English!

5. Today I have eaten a fair amount of chocolate, made Easter cornflake nests & had a lovely family roast. Gotta love Easter!

6. Highlights on the blog include: Superdrug haul & the long awaited 100th post. & on Youtube: 50 facts about me (if you want a little giggle!)

What have you all been up to this week & what has been your best bits?

As always, check my twitter & instagram feed for up to date info about what I have been doing & I'll catch you next week!

Happy Easter!

The 100th Post.....

The 100th Post!!!

I feel like this should have come round a long time ago, considering I have been officially blogging for nearly four years but I am so proud & pleased that this day has finally come!

VintageELLE began as a nineteen year old girls diary, who had an obsession with anything vintage, to reflect her thoughts, loves & journeys through life. It documented fashion, travel, beauty, home decor, lifestyle & thoughts towards life- everything that is still true to this day. It has & continues to fuel my passions in life through an art form that I truly love- there is something so creative & therapeutic in writing, in that moment how you feel, what you love & what you want to say. Photography can instantly create a feeling, a story, a style, a mood, a question. Combining my two loves has opened up a world which I enjoy being a part of.

Who knew that people would actually read what I have to say?

The Readers. It is actually crazy that I have readers who read what I have to say! It baffles me every day. For that I would like to say a huge 'Thank You' from the bottom of my heart to each & everyone who has followed, commented, read & enjoyed my blog over the last 100 posts. Although I have gone through times of not posting anything & gone on a hiatus for nearly a year, it makes me extremely happy & thankful that you have all been patient & stuck with me & if I could, I would give each & everyone of you a huge hug!!! ♥

So, what's next for VintageELLE?
Well I hope to continue as I have been. Writing about what I love, where I have been, what I have been doing & what makes me happy. I hope to keep providing you all with fun, genuine & honest content taking you all along with me through my journey towards wherever it is I am supposed to be! I want to continue to grow as a person & writer, expanding my blog & view on life.

Who knows where I will be 100 more posts from now?
& that is what excites me.

Much Love,
Elle

Drugstore Beauty Haul & Review.....

Is it just me, or has every single beauty brands known to earth decided to all of a sudden released loads of new products!

Now I know it is their job to & maybe it is because I was blind to the fact before, but it seems every brand I saw when wondering through Superdrug had either one or more new products added to their collections. So to celebrate this (or to celebrate my new found 'oh my god, new things!' awareness) I had a little look & picked out a few bits & bobs that I thought looked interesting & pretty!

P1070811

P1070813

P1070816
                                     Rimmel Apocalips- £5.99 each

First impressions: Love the colour range, when swatched they are really glossy, thick & bright in colour, oh & the packaging is great (it looks like a black crystal!). Feels nice on the lips & although after having a drink or eating something the colour does wear away slightly, I feel as though you could easily get away with not touching it up as it is still an even colour all over & the colour is still stained on the lips.

P1070817

P1070820

P1070825
Rimmel Lasting Finish By Kate Moss Lipstick in 101- £5.49 each

First impressions: Although I love the colour in the tube, on the lips it has a slight bluer undertone then I was expecting & wanting. Having said that it does feel nice & soft on the lips & I would repurchase in a different colour!

P1070828
Maybelline 'The Rocket' Mascara in Black- £7.99

First impressions: I'm in two minds about this mascara. On one hand I think its very similar to my loved Covergirl Lash Blast mascara- it does give roughly the same amount of volume as the Covergirl mascara, as the brush is identical meaning that it seperates the lashes when you run it through & it goes from the root to the tip. & of course it is easier for me to purchase as it is available in the UK- but I just don't know!! On the other, there's just something that I can't put my finger on which is stopping me from loving this mascara!! Yes, I sounded like a complete freek when I said that, but maybe I just need to use it more so that it grows on me!

P1070806

P1070807

P1070808
Makeup Academy Eyeshadow Palette in 'Undress Me Too'- £3

First impressions: I really really have been loving this palette!! As you probably know I love my MUA 'Heaven & Earth' palette & when I saw the colour selection of this one, it sold it to me! Now, I know many people have been saying that this is a really good dupe for the cult 'Naked 2' palette & although I do not own that particular palette, I have swatched it in the store & it is extremely similar in the colour variety & quality! As always the quality of the eyeshadows is brilliant- velvety in texture & easy to apply & blend, the colour variety is beautiful & I just love everything about it!! Oh & it was only £3 from £4- an absolute steal!

*****

It is safe to say that I have really been enjoying using these products recently & most will probably sneak into my everyday makeup routine on a permanent basis!

What beauty products have you recently discovered & are really enjoying?

Much Love,

Being Elle: The Sunday Catch-Up Week 001....

IMG_0648

1. Trying to get my blogging 'mojo' back. I have again taken a blogging & Youtube hiatus. At the mo I just feel really uninspired to film anything. It's not that I haven't got any ideas of what I want to film because I have a long list, it's just that I feel majorly de-motivated due to the weather-if you don't know the UK is having a really cold/snowy/grey/depressing/rainingeveryday spell, which really doesn't scream spring! & I don't really fancy freezing my nips off, modelling spring looks with pastel colours & bare legs when the weather is like this thank you very much! But I will be resuming both as of this week, so FEAR NOT!

2. Monday & Tuesday were spent working in an insurance firm as a temp. Honestly it is safe to say that after working in retail like a dog for the last three years, working in an office environment at a desk is pure bliss!

3. Consumed way too many chi tea lattes from Starbucks this week (Finger of blame points to a mister Adam!) I have refined my order & am now one of 'those' customers that rattles off a huge long soliloquy for an order: 'Can I have a grande chi tea latte with soya milk & no water to drink in please?'

4. Pulled the trigger & brought my first bridal magazine *gulp*

5. Thursday marked the end of 'no chocolate' month- I can't believe I lasted a whole month without it, I must have stronger willpower than I thought!

6. Today planned all videos & blogpost for the next week, so gang keep your eyes peeled next week for what I really hope to be a mouth-watering selection of fabulous content for you all to enjoy!

Let me know what you have all been up to over the last week & what your plans for this week are.

If you liked this new weekly addition to the blog then please let me know & if there is anything you would like to have a natter with me about, then please feel free to contact me either on here or on twitter

DIY: Our Engagement Announcements......

This is the first of many wedding related blogposts!! Are you excited?!

One of the first things that we wanted to do when we got engaged was scream it from the rooftops & call everyone & anyone. But being in another country made it very difficult- of course it helped that mine & Adam's parents were able to call most people for us to let them know, however we still wanted to send a more formal announcement to make it official!

Now me being the Pinterest fanatic that I am, (I have just got Adam into it as well, sorry!) I started to gather many ideas/inspirations of how we wanted not only our reception & wedding to look like, but also small things such as invitations, name places, favours etc. So I stumbled across this really interesting image that got me completely inspired, I showed it to Adam & he really liked it too & so we ran with the idea & voila!

It actually was very inexpensive to make these cards compared to making a card with a photo slapped across the front. We had talked about how we wanted the card to look like & we both felt that we wanted it to look fun, but also to follow the vintage/shabby chic/relaxed look that we both want from the actual wedding. As we want to save as much money as possible on the more smaller & unnecessary things, I searched eBay for hours looking for cheap card & envelopes that were under £10 for 50+ & that were made from recycled card (not white). Eventually I found this brilliant website- Razzle Dazzle Rose which not only stocks great quality cards & envelopes, but it also has boxes, place cards, luggage tags etc- I will defiantly be using this website in the future for more stationary! For a pack of 50 including envelopes as well, came in at £9.98 which included P&P which I was very happy about as it came in under budget!

Next all we did was grabbed a black ink pad, did a couple of test runs on a piece of paper making sure that our thumb prints over lapped enough so that it looked like a heart, scanned the thumb prints image onto the computer & imported it into word, inserted the text that we wanted (choosing the correct text style took, forever!)& after a lot of stress that technology always has to offer when it comes to me doing anything creative, we were finally able to print them off & send them!

We both love the outcome of them- both of us think the small statement at the bottom sums up the actual engagement to a tea! Its a little inside joke!!

I hope this has been a little bit inspirational & has got your creative juices flowing! I think its a wonderful idea even as a birth announcement, birthday invite or baby shower invite.

Much Love,
Elle

Today was a really really beautiful day here in the South-East of England.

The sun was shining, it was lovely a warm with a slightly cool breeze & a completely clear blue sky! It feels like spring is finally here & we are well on our way to summer! I took advantage of this gorgeous day, just in case it was a fluke (hello, it's England!) & sat in the garden to eat my lunch whilst flicking through my new copy of Elle.

ENGAGED!!!!!!

I know this announcment is way overdue but to be honest ever since we arrived back from New York, everything has just been such a whirl wind that I have only had time now to write about this amazing developement & new journey in our lives.

Me &  Adam have been together for just over six years- we met when we were both sixteen & although it may sound cheesy, I knew that somewhere down the line this day would finally come.

He is my soulmate ♥

Did I know when/where it was going to happen?
Not completley. I remember very early on in our relationship that me & Adam were having a chat about New York & I don't know how we got onto the subject, but Adam told me that if he was ever to propose he wanted to do it on the ice rink in Central Park. So of course over the last couple of years that we went to New York, especially the in 2010 when he surprised me with tickets for New York for Christmas- I was pretty much on a knifes edge thinking to myself 'will it be this year?'
But this year, I honestly didn't think it was going to happen. There has been a running joke between the two of us that Adam being the chilled out, 'it will happen when it happens' kind of guy, that getting engaged wouldn't be for a good few years yet because he takes his time doing things & ideally we both wanted to live together first!

But really I should know after being with him for over six years, that Adam is always full of suprises & in true romantic style on Valentines Day, in our 'little bubble' with a beautiful view of the city, he gave me the biggest & best surprise ever.

The wedding will not be for a couple of years yet as getting a house is number one priority, but we are beyond excited for finally getting to this point in our relationship.

We both said 'This year will be our year'

Much Love,
Elle
